When an inside-lid message is requested, we create a separate wooden decoration in the shape of a diamond.

Your chosen message is carefully engraved onto this wooden diamond, which is then fitted inside the lid of your jewellery box.

The dedication can include loving words, birthday wishes, an inspirational message or a personal message from family and friends.

If you do not request a message inside the lid, your box will be supplied without the wooden diamond decoration, and the inside of the lid will remain plain.

REAL SOLID PINE CONSTRUCTION

Every Artful Craftsmead wooden jewellery box is individually handcrafted from genuine solid pine timber.

We do not purchase ready-made wooden boxes and simply engrave them.

Each chest begins with raw timber, which is carefully measured, prepared and cut in our own UK workshop.

We construct the wooden body and hinged lid, carefully prepare the corners and edges, and repeatedly hand sand the surfaces to achieve a smooth finish.

The selected decorative artwork and personal details are engraved onto the lid using precision laser engraving.

The wooden surfaces are carefully stained to enhance the natural grain and character of the solid pine.

After suitable drying time, finishing wax is applied and the surfaces are hand polished.

Metal hinges and a decorative clasp complete the traditional construction.

The storage area is finished with soft beige felt lining, creating an attractive surface for jewellery and other treasured belongings.

Each completed box is carefully checked before dispatch.

The box features a spacious main storage area with soft beige felt lining.

Its generous size makes it suitable for storing a selection of treasured personal belongings, such as:

HANDMADE FROM SCRATCH IN OUR UK WORKSHOP

Our production process combines careful woodworking with modern engraving techniques and traditional hand finishing.

Every box goes through several individual stages:

1. Timber Preparation

We select and prepare genuine solid pine timber, measure the wooden components and cut them to size.

2. Box Construction

The body and lid are individually assembled, glued and secured to create a strong wooden structure.

3. Hand Sanding

The wooden surfaces, corners and edges are carefully prepared and hand sanded.

4. Design Preparation

Your chosen engraving design is arranged with the supplied personalisation details.

5. Precision Laser Engraving

The decorative artwork, name and birthday information are engraved onto the lid.

6. Optional Inside Decoration

If a personalised inside-lid dedication is requested, the separate wooden diamond-shaped decoration is prepared, engraved and fitted inside the lid.

7. Wood Staining

The box is finished in your selected wood stain colour to highlight the natural pine grain.

8. Wax Finishing & Polishing

After the appropriate drying period, finishing wax is applied and the wood is carefully hand polished.

9. Felt Lining & Hardware

The soft felt lining, hinges and decorative metal clasp are fitted and checked.

10. Final Inspection

The completed wooden box is inspected before being carefully packaged for dispatch.

This detailed process means that every finished piece has its own individual handmade character.

CHOOSE YOUR WOOD STAIN

We offer a selection of traditional wood stain finishes, allowing you to choose a lighter, warmer or darker appearance.

Please select your preferred finish from the Wood Stain variation menu and refer to the colour chart in our product photographs.

The stain is applied to real solid pine, so the natural grain and timber markings remain visible.

Different pieces of pine may absorb stain differently, creating subtle natural variations in tone.

Please remember that lighting conditions, photography and screen settings may also affect how colours appear.

NATURAL WOOD & HANDMADE CHARACTERISTICS

Real solid pine is a beautiful natural material, and every piece of timber has its own distinctive character.

Your handmade jewellery box may feature:

- Individual wood grain patterns.
- Natural knots and growth rings.
- Variations in timber colour.
- Natural mineral markings and small imperfections.
- Differences in how wood stain is absorbed.
- Slight variations in engraving darkness.
- Small differences associated with individual handmade construction and finishing.

The grain and knots may appear in different positions from those shown in the photographs.

Laser engraving can appear lighter or darker depending on the natural characteristics of the wood.

These are expected features of genuine solid pine and individually handcrafted products.

They make each box unique and are not manufacturing defects.

Actual damage or faulty workmanship is not regarded as a normal characteristic of natural wood.

FRESH WOOD & FINISH SCENT

Because your jewellery box is freshly handcrafted, stained and waxed before dispatch, you may notice a natural scent of fresh timber combined with wood stain and finishing wax when you first unpack it.

This is normal for a newly finished handmade solid wood product and is not a defect.

We recommend unpacking your box and leaving it open in a dry, well-ventilated room until the initial scent has faded.

Please allow the box to air before placing delicate jewellery, fabric accessories or other sensitive belongings inside.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

To help preserve the appearance and finish of your jewellery box:

- Keep the box indoors in a dry environment.
- Avoid excessive moisture and humidity.
- Do not expose the wood to direct water contact.
- Keep away from radiators, fireplaces and strong heat.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Clean the wooden surfaces gently using a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Keep the felt lining clean and dry.
- Avoid storing damp items inside the box.
- Open and close the hinged lid gently.
- Handle the metal clasp carefully.
- Do not place excessive weight on the lid or force the hinges.

Solid wood naturally responds to changes in temperature and humidity. Suitable care will help preserve the appearance and character of your handmade box.

SAFE USE

This product is intended for indoor jewellery, keepsake and personal accessory storage.

It is not a children's toy.

The metal fittings and optional decorative wooden diamond should be handled with care.

The clasp is a decorative fastening and should not be treated as a security lock.

Please keep small jewellery items away from young children and store delicate or valuable pieces appropriately.

Step 3 – Enter the Name

Provide the recipient's name exactly as you would like it engraved.

Step 4 – Enter the Birthday Age

Enter the birthday number or milestone age.

Step 5 – Optional Lid Quote

Add your own short phrase or leave the field blank to keep the standard wording for your chosen design.

Step 6 – Optional Inside Message

If you would like the wooden diamond-shaped decoration inside the lid, enter your personalised dedication in the Inside Lid Message field.

If no dedication is required, leave the field blank. The box will then be supplied without the wooden diamond decoration.

Step 7 – Select the Language

Choose English or Polish for the birthday wording.

Where English or Polish wording has been selected, the standard design text will be adapted as appropriate for that language.

Custom wording is reproduced as submitted unless a change is agreed with the buyer.

We cannot be responsible for engraving errors caused by incorrect details supplied with the order.

DESIGN PREVIEWS & APPROVAL

Digital engraving previews are not automatically provided with every order.

If you would like to request a preview of your personalisation, please contact us before production begins.

Where a preview has been arranged, please check all spelling, punctuation, wording, dates and design placement carefully.

Any corrections should be requested before giving approval.

Delays in receiving personalisation details or preview approval may affect the production and dispatch schedule.

Once construction or engraving has begun, changes may no longer be possible.

MADE TO ORDER – PRODUCTION TIME

Every wooden jewellery box is individually handcrafted in our UK workshop.

Estimated processing time: approximately 8–10 working days.

This allows time for timber preparation, cutting, construction, sanding, engraving, staining, drying, wax finishing, felt lining, fitting the hardware and completing final checks.

The production period does not include delivery transit time.

Please allow sufficient time if the box is intended for a particular birthday or special occasion.

If your gift is needed by a specific date, please contact us before ordering to discuss the available timescale.

Your finished box is carefully packed to help protect the wooden construction, engraved lid, felt lining and metal fittings during transit.

Available delivery services, charges and estimated arrival dates are displayed at checkout.

International delivery times may be affected by customs procedures or carrier delays.
