Each box is made individually in our workshop from raw solid pine timber rather than purchased as a ready-made unfinished box.

HANDCRAFTED FROM SOLID PINE

Every box is made individually from raw solid pine timber in our workshop.

The making process includes selecting and cutting the timber, assembling and gluing the box, clamping, sanding, creating narrow corner kerfs, reinforcing them with small hardwood wedges, separating the lid from the completed body, routing and refining the edges where required, engraving, further sanding, staining, fitting the hardware and interior elements, applying the protective finish and hand polishing.

NATURAL WOOD & HANDMADE CHARACTERISTICS

Real solid wood is a natural material, so every box will be different.

Natural characteristics can include visible grain, growth rings, variations in colour and tone, knots, partially open knots, fallen knots, knot holes, natural voids and cavities, small pinholes, resin or sap pockets, tiny surface depressions, fine cracks, checks or splits and differences in surface texture.

Different areas of timber may absorb stain differently.

Laser engraving may naturally vary in shade and depth according to the grain, density, knots and resin content.

Small handmade workshop characteristics may also be present, including subtle glue traces, sanding marks, routing or tool marks, tiny dents, wax or polish traces, signs of workshop handling, slight joint or alignment variation and small differences in finished measurements.

Hardwood corner wedges may vary in timber species, colour and grain.

Natural solid timber may also move slightly in response to changes in temperature and humidity.

These characteristics are normal for genuine wood and handmade construction and are not considered faults.

FRESH WOOD & FINISH SCENT

A newly handcrafted wooden box may have a noticeable natural scent when first opened from the fresh timber, wood stain and finishing wax.

This is normal and is not a defect.

After unpacking, allow the box to air naturally. The initial scent will gradually reduce.
