Each box is individually made from raw solid oak timber in our UK workshop. We machine the lid and base separately, carefully prepare the surfaces, engrave your selected design and personalisation, and finish the wood by hand to bring out its beautiful natural grain.

GENUINE SOLID OAK – MADE FROM SCRATCH

Unlike mass-produced wooden gift boxes or pre-made blanks, our oak boxes are created from raw timber in our own workshop.

Our production process includes selecting and preparing the oak, cutting and CNC-machining the separate lid and base, creating the recessed compartments, preparing the fitting positions, laser engraving, carefully hand-sanding, applying a suitable protective wood finish and hand-polishing the completed piece.

Each box features:

- Genuine natural solid oak construction.

- Precision CNC-machined lid and base.

- Beautifully softened and rounded edges.

- A single recessed interior compartment.

- Natural exposed oak inside the lid and along the interior walls.

- Soft beige felt fitted to the floor of the lower compartment only.

- Two small concealed 8 mm brass barrel hinges.

- One centrally positioned magnetic closure pair.

- A carefully hand-finished and hand-polished surface.

No MDF, chipboard or mass-produced ready-made wooden blanks are used to make the oak box.

APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS

External dimensions:

16 × 7.5 × 3.5 cm

Approximately 6.3 × 3 × 1.4 inches.

Internal dimensions:

Approximately 15 × 5.5 cm.

The total available internal height when the box is closed is approximately 3 cm, formed by the recesses in both halves: approximately 2 cm in the lower compartment and 1 cm in the lid.

These measurements are approximate and may vary slightly because each box is individually made and finished.

Please check the dimensions carefully before ordering, particularly if you intend to store a specific pen or another personal item inside.

NATURAL WOOD & HANDMADE CHARACTERISTICS

Every piece of genuine oak is unique.

Natural variations in wood grain, colour, texture and figure are an important part of the beauty of a handcrafted wooden product.

Depending on the individual piece of timber, natural characteristics may include knots, small openings where knots have fallen out, pinholes, resin pockets, fine cracks or checks, subtle grain irregularities and minor surface or colour differences.

Because our boxes are individually machined, sanded, assembled and finished, small variations in dimensions, edge profiles, joinery, engraving tone, polishing and surface appearance may also occur.

Subtle sanding or machining marks, minor handmade imperfections and traces associated with the finishing process can be present. Natural wood may also respond to changes in temperature and humidity over time.

These characteristics do not make every piece identical to the example photographs; they are part of working with genuine natural timber.

A fresh wood or finishing-product scent may be noticeable when your order arrives. This is normal for a recently made wooden item and should gradually fade when the box is opened and aired in a well-ventilated space.

The shade and darkness of laser engraving may vary slightly according to the grain and density of the individual wood.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

To help preserve your oak keepsake box:

- Keep it in a dry indoor environment.

- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, excessive heat and high humidity.

- Do not soak or immerse the box in water.

- Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth.

- Avoid harsh household cleaners, solvents and abrasive cleaning products.

- Protect the surface from prolonged contact with liquids.

- Handle the hinges, magnetic closure and delicate laser-cut bookmark with care.

The decorative plywood bookmark should be kept dry and handled gently, particularly around the shaped bird details.

Your personalised box is made individually in our UK workshop.

Our usual preparation time for standard solid wood products is approximately 8–10 working days, before dispatch. This is an estimate and may vary depending on current orders and the complexity of your personalisation.

Orders are carefully packed to help protect the finished wooden product during delivery.

Shipping times begin after dispatch and are separate from the production period. Any delivery estimates provided by the carrier are not guaranteed arrival dates.

As personalised items are made specifically to your instructions, change-of-mind returns may be restricted where permitted by applicable law.

This does not affect your statutory consumer rights if an item is faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or otherwise does not conform to the contract.
